Academics
A Lumen Accredited Elementary School
St. Matthew Catholic School, within the Mecklenburg Area Catholic School (MACS) System, follows the educational curriculum developed and supported by the Charlotte Diocese Education Office and North Carolina Standard Course of Study. With the structure and guidance of this curriculum, our teachers strive to meet the needs of each student, while challenging all students to fulfill their academic potential in a secure and nurturing environment.
At the heart of our curriculum is the study of our Catholic Faith. Because Religion is the very reason for our existence, a focal point of this information is the course of study offered in our Religion classes.
All St. Matthew Catholic School students receive daily instruction in Religious Education, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, English/Language Arts, and Physical Education. We also offer Computer, Art, Music, Spanish, a Counseling Program, an Academic Achievement Program, a Learning Enrichment Program (LEAP), and an Instrumental Music Program (nominal fee). Each of these expanded programs is taught by specialized instructors.
St. Matthew Catholic School holds accreditation from Lumen. Lumen Accreditation from The Catholic University of America is recognized by the North Carolina State Board of Education as a third-party accreditor for non public schools.
