An endowment is a permanent fund, the principal of which is never touched. The principal, as defined, includes the initial contribution given to establish the endowment and the additional gifts to the endowment.

Only the investment earnings from an endowment fund are used. In specific terms, an endowment fund provides a permanent and secure source of income, which can ensure the future of St. Matthew Catholic School. Strong endowments are an essential component of a thriving Catholic school and allow our school to meet the needs of increasing costs and keep tuition affordable for all families seeking an exceptional Catholic education rooted in our mission.

7% of the Wildcat Annual Fund funds go towards the St. Matthew Catholic School Endowment Fund, managed by investment professionals at the Diocese of Charlotte Foundation.
